FlyJacket i3800
A1: What is FlyJacket?
FlyJacket is a state-of-the-art multimedia
expansion sleeve for Compaq iPAQ.
A2: Does FlyJacket compatible with my
Compaq iPAQ PPC?
The FlyJacket has been designed and tested
to work with Compaq iPAQ 3600, 3700 and 3800 series Pocket PC, it
works under Microsoft WinCE 3.0 or PocketPC 2002 Operation System.
A3: I have connected
a projector to the FlyJacket i3800, but there is no display. Why?
First of all, please make sure both iPAQ
and projector are power 'ON', than check all FlyJacket drivers have
been installed properly; if you can not locate LifeView Shadow or
LifeView PowerShow in your program menu, please re-install FlyJacket
drivers enclosed with your FlyJacket package.
A4: After pressed Page
Up / Page Down buttons on the pen-sized remote control, but nothing
happened, why?
Due to infrared processing on the iPAQ,
there is a 0.5 second response time delay when using Page Up / Page
Down feature.
A5: What will be happened
to the FlyJacket drivers if I perform a hard reset on my iPAQ?
A hard reset will delete all the installed
FlyJacket driver and application, requiring re-installation of all
the software, including drivers.
A6: Will the FlyJacket
i3800 be able to output to my flat panel LCD monitor?
Yes, the FlyJacket i3800 is able to provide
VGA output to flat panel LCD monitors that meet or support Video
Electronics Standards Association (VESA) VGA frequency standards.
We have based the FlyJacket i3800 VGA output frequencies on those
that are promulgated by VESA mainly because it is the most widely
adapted standard. A majority of LCD VGA monitors have a range of
frequency values supported for output at 640x480, 800x600 and 1024x768
resolutions that fall within VESA frequency standards. However,
some LCD VGA monitors don't follow this standard.
The table below indicates the VESA VGA frequency standards that
the FlyJacket i3800 is currently supporting.

A7. Is it possible
to capture still images using the FlyJacket i3800?
Yes, capturing still images is possible
using either the bundled IA Image Capture or the FlyViewMax application
(click
here for free download). The IA Image Capture application allows
the image to be captured in a choice of 3 file formats -JPEG,
BMP and GIF.
A8. Is it possible
to record full motion video using the FlyJacket i3800?
Our R&D team is currently testing an
application that will permit full motion video recording. The
expected release date is early to mid-March 2002.
A9. Can I access
data stored on a CompactFlash card while using the FlyJacket i3800?
Certainly. The FlyJacket i3800 is equipped
with a fully compliant CompactFlash slot (Type I /II) that is
specifically designed to handle this functionality. That means
that you have total access to data stored on any CF Type I or
Type II card including presentation files, image files simply
by inserting the card into the FlyJacket i3800CF slot.
A10. Does the FlyJacket
i3800 require connection to a power adapter during operation?
No, the FlyJacket i3800 does not require
connection to a power adapter during operation. When the FlyJacket
i3800's internal battery power is drained, charging via the iPAQ
power adapter is required.
11. Will the FlyJacket
i3800 drain power from the iPAQ main battery?
Never. The FlyJacket i3800 receives
its power solely from its internal battery and not from the iPAQ.
The FlyJacket i3800's design prevents it from feeding off the
iPAQ main battery - even when near empty.
A12. Is it possible
to connect my camcorder and output video to my TV simultaneously
using the FlyJacket i3800?
No. The FlyJacket i3800 can only perform
video input OR video output tasks, but not both simultaneously.
A13. How long can
I expect the FlyJacket i3800 battery to last on a full charge?
A reasonable range is between 1.5 to
2 hours providing no power consuming device such as a Microdrive
is connected in addition to the display device.
A14. Is it possible
to use presentation or image viewing applications other than those
included in the IA PowerMedia Suite?
At this time, the FlyJacket i3800 supports
video output and video input functionality using the IA PowerMedia
Suite only. Additional software applications will be supported
in the coming months.
A15. Can I preview
video full-screen on my iPAQ?
Yes. To preview video full-screen,
simply run the FlyViewMax
application (free download) and have a video input device such
as a camcorder or VCR connected to your FlyJacket i3800.
A16. Is there a
presentation tool included in the FlyJacket i3800 package?
Yes. The FlyJacket i3800 package includes
a pen-sized remote control / laser pointer. One end of the pen
functions as a laser beam while the opposite end emits an infrared
signal to the FlyJacket i3800 to advance or return to previous
slides/images when using IA Presenter and IA Album.
A17. Will the FlyJacket
i3800 be able to output to my flat panel LCD monitor?
Yes, the FlyJacket i3800 is able to
provide VGA output to flat panel LCD monitors that meet or support
Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) VGA frequency standards.
We have based the FlyJacket i3800 VGA output frequencies on those
that are promulgated by VESA mainly because it is the most widely

A19. It takes several
seconds for the slide to advance during a slideshow on IA Presenter
when I use the infrared remote control.
It is normal to experience a delayed
response. The cause for the hesitation is NOT related to the FlyJacket
i3800, rather it involves several other factors (application processing
speed, iPAQ memory, file size, etc) involved with processing the
'infrared command'.
A20. If have connected
a camcorder / VCR to the FlyJacket, what application do I use
to preview video?
Use the IA Image Capture application
included in the IA Style® PowerMedia Suite software bundle.
Simply go to the Programs menu and tap on IA Image Capture icon
to launch the program.
A21. I keep getting
error messages when trying to connect a Microdrive
Please consult the Microdrive? manufacturer's
website for information on downloading and installing the latest
driver version.
A22. There is "flickering"
or "noise" on the VGA display.
These types of display errors occur
when old FlyJacket i3800 drivers are installed. Please go here
to download the latest version.
A23. Why does the
battery meter on the PowerShow application indicate an incorrect
value or none at all?
The first release of the PowerShow
application had a tendency to display inaccurate battery levels.
This error has been corrected in the newer version available here.
A24. If I power
off my iPAQ, will it also shutdown the FlyJacket i3800?
No, since the FlyJacket i3800 battery
functions independently from the iPAQ battery. To power off the
FlyJacket i3800 requires closing the LifeView Shadow application
by tapping on the EXIT button or the OK button (upper right-hand
corner) from within the program.
A25. Why is the
iPAQ performance so slow when connected to the FlyJacket i3800?
When the iPAQ is connected to the FlyJacket
i3800, and a program like IA Presenter or IA Album is open, the
Flyjacket display drivers are also running in the background.
It is this resulting demand on iPAQ's limited memory from multiple
programs working that creates processing delays.
IA PowerMedia Suit
Q1. Is it possible
to install IA Style® PowerMedia Suite on a Secondary Storage
card?
During the IA PowerMedia Suite installation
process, a dialog box will appear asking: "Install IA Style®
PowerMedia Suite using the default application install directory?"
Select No, then another box will appear asking you to "Select
Destination Media". Just select Save In Storage Card, and then
the program will be saved in the storage card.
Q2. An error message
appears when I try to "drag-n-drop" an MS PowerPoint® presentation
file to my iPAQ.
Most error messages that appear during
your use of the IA Presenter ActiveSync Filter/Converter are actually
reported by the underlying Microsoft Office OLE automation libraries
called by the IA Presenter Converter. IA Style® recommends
that you first check the slides and try to identify what presentation
object caused the problem. Deleting and re-generating that object
may solve the problem. Completely uninstalling and re-installing
MS PowerPoint® might help also.
However, if you are experiencing one
of the rare cases in which the above suggestions don't work, and
you receive an error message that you don't understand and that
does not include any hints for correction, please send an e-mail
to IA Style® containing a screen shot of the error message
(or type the text of the message, including any numbers that follow
the message). Also please tell IA Style® anything that might
help IA Style® to duplicate the error, and, if possible, include
the PowerPoint® file.
Q3. How do I use
IA Presenter to output to VGA?
After inserting your iPAQ into the
Flyjacket i3800, connect your VGA display device to the VGA connector:
On your iPAQ, tap the Windows Start icon and then tap on Programs
from the menu. Locate and tap on the IA Presenter icon. When IA
Presenter opens:
Select the Powerpoint file you wish to view by tapping on it
Tap the following tabs: Tools | Options | VGA Output.
Select the FlyJacket Sleeve (VGA Card), VGA (Output to) and your
choice of resolution(Mode) and then tap "OK"
Tap the View tab and select VGA Slideshow to view presentation
on your VGA display device.
Q4. Two presentations
appear, a full screen and a smaller display version, when I open
my PowerPoint® file in IA Presenter.
This will occur in two situations:
If the LifeView® Shadow application is not 'exited' prior
to launching IA Presenter.
If IA Presenter is launched while the IA Screen Mirror application
is running.
Q5. When I use IA
Presenter, the slide appears cut-off on the projector screen or
LCD monitor, what should I do?
In most instances, using the "Refresh
or Auto-Sync" function of the projector will correct this display
error. Alternately, access the projector display menu to adjust
the Horizontal Position or Vertical Position setting until slide
appears correctly.
Q6. How do I use
IA Album to output to VGA?
After inserting your iPAQ into the
Flyjacket i3800, connect your VGA display device to the VGA connector:
On your iPAQ, tap the Windows Start icon and then tap on Programs
from the menu. Locate and tap on the IA Album icon. When IA Album
opens:
Tap the following tabs: Tools | Options | VGA
Select the FlyJacket Sleeve (VGA Card), VGA (Output to) and your
choice of resolution (Mode) and other parameters, then tap "OK"
From the View tab, tap Mode and then select VGA Select to view
images on your VGA display device
Q7. When I use IA
Image Capture, the video preview display screen will 'freeze'
after I capture an image.
This error has been corrected in the
latest version of IA Image Capture. Please refer to the IA
Style® website to receive the updated version.
Q8. I have converted
a PPT file to IAP file format, but when I try to use IA Presenter
to open the file, I see the error message: "10200:1000:10 File
format is not valid".
The problem you are experiencing is
a bug that sometimes shows up in IA Presenter 2.0. IA Style has
updated IA Presenter, and as a FlyJacket i3800 owner, you can
download and install a new version of the IA
PowerMedia Suite (the suite of applications
that includes IA Presenter.)
Q9. When I copy-paste
my PPT file to my iPAQ, it still PPT, not IAP file why?
IA presenter only can convert PPS file
to IAP. Please save your Power Point file to PPS, than copy-paste
to your mobile device, you should see IAP file format in your
iPAQ.
NOTE
For further technical questions or
support issues relating to any of the 4 programs in the IA PowerMedia
Suite, please visit IA
PowerMedia Suite website or send an e-mail
directly to the IA Style® support team.
